My stay at the hotel was a mixed bag. While I appreciated the cleanliness of the room and the reasonable rates, some aspects definitely left room for improvement. The service from the front desk staff was commendable, and it's conveniently located near various attractions. However, the breakfast options were sparse, and the overall facilities felt outdated and cramped.

The room was clean, but it was a bit small and cramped, and there was a distinct odor that lingered throughout our stay.

This hotel offers a great value for those looking for a basic stay in a clean environment. The rooms are comfortable and the staff is knowledgeable, making for a pleasant experience overall. However, the property could really use some updates, as some amenities feel dated and the breakfast options are limited. Still, it serves as a perfect base for exploring the beautiful surroundings.

The motel experience left much to be desired, starting with a jammed entry door and a noticeable smell of cigarettes in the hallways. While the rooms had some cleanliness, the lack of basic amenities and poor maintenance were disappointing. On a positive note, there was a nice hot tub available, although the price didn’t reflect the quality of the stay.

Rooms
5.0
The rooms were poorly maintained with shabby furniture and stains. There was only one packet of shampoo for four guests, which was quite laughable. Overall, not what I expected for the price.
Service
5.0
The service was minimal, and the overall management seemed to lack awareness about the upkeep of the property. I definitely didn’t feel that the experience matched the high price.
Location
6.0
Located off Hwy 61 in Grand Marais, the location could have been a highlight, but I wouldn’t choose this motel again. Many better options are available nearby.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was below expectations and barely edible; definitely worth skipping.
Facilities

While there is a nice hot tub, the overall facilities are lacking. The absence of a pool was a disappointment.

Our stay was a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, the housekeeping staff seems to do their best in keeping things clean, and we appreciated the friendly service at the front desk. On the other hand, the overall state of the hotel left much to be desired, with outdated rooms, malfunctioning amenities, and noticeable cleanliness issues. For the price we paid, there are definitely better options in the area.

Rooms

The rooms felt quite old and were not well-maintained, with issues like dirty walls and malfunctioning air conditioning.
Service
7.0
The staff at the front desk were friendly and accommodating, which was a small silver lining during our stay.
Location

It's located right on the highway, making it quite noisy with the sound of trucks, which was quite disruptive.

Facilities seemed rundown; the hallways were dirty, and some doorways were broken.

I stayed at this motel while preparing for a Boundary Waters trip. It was a decent experience overall. The room was comfortable, and the staff were welcoming. The breakfast options were lacking, which was a bit of a letdown. Additionally, I noticed the place could really use some updates, particularly in the bathrooms and carpets, making it feel overpriced for what it offers right now.
